Energetic optimization of building structure

We agreed in most of the layers with the architect who thought that a compact mass structured building with circle ground plan, two-floor (total floor area:600 m2), good insulation on the walls(U-value= 0,13 W/m2K), slabs and good windows and doors(triple glazed U-value=0,7, LOW-E, namely low emission) would be suitable for the project.

We recommended reflective glazing and vane shading for the windows on the south, east and west facade to reduce the heat load in the summer. We examined the change of the building's orientation but we rejected the idea, because we realised that turning the big windows from north to south would increase the solar gain which would decrease the heat demand but in the summer it encumbers the cooling of the building.

We raised the question of changing the flat roof to a green roof but if we don't monetize the recreation benefits of it, then it would payback in a very long time. Not to mention the solar panels in the roof.

Recommendation of installations

How we calculated the payback?

What to heat, the surfaces or the air?

What to heat with? Are there any concurrent to the condensing boiler?

Heat pump dilemma

Cooling

Heat recovery ventillation

Solar cell in any case!
