  • The thermal insulation is what counts, not the conduction capabilities of the bricks

A major part of the housing stock in Hungary was built of B30 blocks, which have roughly three times worse thermal conductivity than the values allowed by the standards nowadays. Still, we can not say that the B30 block should be considered as bad masonry material, it just has to be covered with a thick thermal insulation layer. Let’s see a concrete example!

  • What kind of heating is the best in a passive house? part 2

    Fireplace, boiler or heat pump?

WWe have already „tested” the fireplace and the compact device in the passive house designed by us, now it is time to present an extremely low-performance condesational boiler and a system called „Energiakulcs” (Energy-key). Why is it important that the boiler has a great modulation? Also what can an Energy-key offer with a ground heat/water heat pump as a central element?

  • What kind of heating is the best in a passive house?

Fireplace, boiler or heat pump? part 1

We designed a passive house, where, for the first time, we put a so-called compact device functioning with a ground heat-air pump. Ever since, we realized that better solutions are avaiable, now we are presenting these. Have you ever tought that a wood combusting fireplace or a condensational boiler can be installed into a passive house?

  • Passive House Design by our Studio

We publish the construction costs, as well!

How do the energy-efficient building constructions we have chosen fit in the concept of the passive house? How much will it cost to build a two-story, 107 m2 passive house? What kind of windows and thermal insulation material were used? There really isn’t any chimney?

  • Raft Foundation versus Strip Foundation

The raft foundation is really more expensive?

In our series we show you, what are the costs of the various work processes by an average detached house. Let’s start with the foundations! Most of the architects prefer the strip foundation over the raft foundation, and in the public consciousness is that the strip foundation is cheaper. We think that the price difference is not significant, we illustrate it with an example, and we would like to help you out to make a better decision.
